Slip Base Light Pole - A breakaway innovation
An innovation in industrial design, this type of special purpose street lighting pole addresses the universal problem of high-speed road accidents involving roadside collisions with freeway poles. The Slip Base Light Pole is designed to topple during impact, allowing the pole to break away from its base, reducing the amount of damage to the vehicle – and potentially saving lives in the process.

How It Works
The Slip Base Light Pole consist of a normal pole stem, catering for mounting heights up to approximately 15m. The base involves two plates clamped together with three equally spaced bolts. These plates and bolts are released during an impact, allowing the pole stem to break away from its foundation with minimal impact on the vehicle.
